Minutes

Present: Vice Chairman John Tuttle, Council members Thomas Cordeiro, Christopher Goff, Barbara Moore and Susan Weintraub.  Also present were Town Manager Jeffery O’Keefe, Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois, members of the press and citizens.

Not Present:  Melissa Engel and William Devine

Vice Chairman Tuttle called the Public Hearing to order at 6:00 p.m.  All stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.  

Vice Chairman Tuttle provided an overview of the proposed ordinance.

Dennis Erickson, 17 Hills Avenue, spoke in favor of the ordinance.  He noted that there are 19 veterans in the State of Connecticut that would be eligible for this ordinance but none live in East Hampton.

Brendan Flannery, 19 Flannery Row, spoke in favor of the ordinance noting it will be good to have in place for the future.

Fred Schluntz, District 6 Commander, commented that many veterans are coming home with issues and this ordinance will be good to have in case the veterans need it.

Ed Turner, 223 Hog Hill Road, spoke in favor of the ordinance.

John Krasnitski, 36 Abbey Road, spoke in favor of the ordinance and thanked the Council for considering this ordinance.

The Public Hearing closed at 6:10 p.m.
